SATI Aims and Objectives

The aims and objectives of SATI are:  

  1. to provide affiliations with appropriate ITF-style (Chang-Hon style) international organizations with the purpose of commissioning black belt certification from reputable ITF Taekwon-Do lineages and offering opportunities for ITF-style (Chang-Hon style) international competitions at reasonable intervals;
  2. to provide national representation with appropriate sporting authorities, such as the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) and Martial Arts Authority of South Africa (MASA), and ensure compliance with relevant national (sport related) laws and regulations;
  3. to provide a national core syllabus and establish an appropriate national technical standard;
  4. to provide opportunities for colour belt and black belt (Dan) tests and promotions at reasonable intervals;
  5. to provide traditionally founded and scientifically sound instruction of ITF-style (Chang-Hon style) Taekwon-Do and related martial art skills through the hosting of seminars, camps, and other events at reasonable intervals, or alternatively to inform and assist members in the participation of such events when organized by affiliate organizations;
  6. to provide opportunities for participation in regional and national tournaments, or alternatively to inform and assist members in the participation of such events when organized by affiliate organizations;
  7. to promote Taekwon-Do through marketing initiatives, including the design and upkeep of the SATI website and other social media;
  8. to function as an institute for the research and development of Taekwon-Do, and to disseminate such research via appropriate channels;
  9. to encourage the virtues associated with Taekwon-Do as encapsulated by the “Tenets of Taekwon-Do,” the “Student Oath,” and the principles found in the ITF Encyclopaedia's chapter on “Moral Culture,” while being respectful of religious and cultural differences.
